Hidden Hawaii is a Berlin based drum & bass label that was originally founded in 1998. However, the last couple of years have seen a big rise in the imprints output. The label focuses mostly on the more experimental side of drum & bass and occasunally dubstep and other breakbeat genres.
Highly reccomended music!
The cover pictured was designed by me for their “Hidden Hawaii – Volume One” compilation.

Gisting a Akranesi is an accommodation in the town of Akranes, West-Iceland. Akranes is a seaport town of 6000 people, located on the tip of Skipa-Skaginn peninsula. About 45 minutes drive from Reykjavik (49 km/ 30 miles).
The accommodation is located on the street “Bakkatun”, on the ground floor of a private house of the hostess Johanna. Bakkatun is a beautiful street, by the sea, in the lower side of Akranes. It is 500 m (1/3 of a mile) from the old town’s center square and on the way you will find an ATM, a bank, a bakery and and the old swimming-pool, to name a few. Just a little further is a bus terminal with connection to Reykjavik and a nice little coffeehouse. The next grocery store is in less than 10 min walking distance and the harbor is about 5 minutes away.

The outdoor pool plays a similar role in Iceland as does the café in France, the pub in England, the Mediterranean plaza or the Finnish sauna – it is a source of overall well-being and enjoyment. Good clean fun! Abundance of renewable resources has become one of the most significant characteristics of Iceland and harnessing hot water from the earth is the country’s dominant form of energy use. Geothermal Living focuses on a partial aspect of geothermal use, i.e. the culture of public outdoor bathing. It is based on the author’s life-long participation in the pool culture of Reykjavik and provides an exceptional insight into the cultural meaning of water.
